We are excited that a number of students will be in our office this year. You may see high school and college students learning about healthcare careers, as well as nurse practitioner students on their pediatric rotations. There are a number of benefits to having students here in our office:

  • They bring energy, enthusiasm, and excitement to the office, which is often contagious.
  • They keep us on our toes; we have to be able to explain what they see, what we are doing, and why.
  • We have to be up to date on the latest in pediatrics.
  • We love teaching, and teaching has been a part of healthcare since at least the time of Hippocrates.
  • It gives us an opportunity to fulfill our mission have a broader impact and further the health and wellbeing of more children.
  • Though we are not perfect, they (hopefully) see the best and most up-to-date pediatric care for children.
  • We get to show them the joy and privilege of caring for children and their families.
  • It makes us better healers.

This is also an opportunity for YOU to make a difference in the lives of these young, future healers.

  • Be patient with them. They are often nervous, and they may ask a lot of questions or repeat themselves.
  • Be enthusiastic about the chance to help teach them how to care for children and families.
  • Be willing to help them along. You may even have the chance to give them some feedback and help them learn.

Thank you for your willingness to help train the next generation of healers!
