The United States National Library of Medicine, through its Toxicology Data Network, has published a new online database called LactMed that lists medications and their use by breastfeeding mothers. It is “a peer-reviewed and fully referenced database of drugs to which breastfeeding mothers may be exposed. Among the data included are maternal and infant levels of drugs, possible effects on breastfed infants and on lactation, and alternate drugs to consider.”
It became available a few months ago and looks like it will be a wonderful resource for nursing mothers and for physicians as well.
